Cover Piece by Frank Lippold

Jan Heinke, Arve Henriksen and Demian Kappenstein
started working together after several individual colaborations
as a trio in 2018. A series of concerts at the radio broadcast station Funkhaus Berlin, UT Connewitz Leipzig as well as the Jazzclub Tonne Dresden was followed by a recording session in Demians studio in 2019.
After the sudden passing of Jan Heinke in April 2022 Arve and Demian
released the MURMURATIO EP as a single piece limited edition of 63 as
intended when Jan was still with them. The 63 tape covers can be
put together to result in an artpiece by Jan's friend Frank Lippold.
The profit of the tapes will be donated to keep Jan Heinke's
website www.chrononaut.art available in the future.

Jan Heinke was born in Dresden in 1968. He described himself as a world musician, playing percussion from Africa, didgeridoo from Australia and doing harmonic singing from Mongolia/Tibet. Jan began his musical training at the children's choir of the Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden.
Later he studied saxophone at the Dresden University of Music. In addition to these studies he had developed interests in harmonic singing and ethnic instruments. Jan's fascination with the sound characteristics of metal began early. A musical encounter with the American artist Bob Rutman in the mid-90s gave him the impulse to develop more complex instruments as the steel celloes of his STAHLQUARTETT. Jan lived as a freelance musician in Dresden, built sound sculptures and composed for various groups. We are very sad - Jan died after a short, serious illness on April 20, 2022.

Demian Kappenstein was born in 1983. He studied Jazzdrums and Drums Jazz/Rock/Pop at the Dresden University of Music from 2004-2009. In 2011 he finished his masterclass exam. He has worked with artists like Rolf Kühn, Giora Feidman, Markus Stockhausen, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Louis Sclavis and Robyn Schulkowsky. In his concerts for solo drums he works on the connection of acoustic sounds and electronic preparations as well as the visual aspects of the musical performance.
